SEBUYAU: Sarawak is not involved in the electricity tariff increase as announced by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said, for the record, tariffs for electricity and water in the region are under the jurisdiction of the Sarawak Government.

In fact, he clarified that the Sarawak Government has no plans to increase the existing tariff rates.

He said this when met by the media after performing the Solat Sunat Aidilfitri prayer at the Darul Aman Sebangan Mosque on Monday.

TNB last December announced a 14 percent increase in basic electricity tariffs for the 2025 to 2027 period.

TNB stated that the increase was necessary to cover operating costs and infrastructure development.-UKASnews
