MIRI: The Sungai Tujoh Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) is set to undergo an upgrade with a project valued at RM3.576 million, expected to be completed by 9 December 2025.

Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, witnessed the contract handover to ZM Capital on Friday.

According to him, the project will address the frequent congestion issues, particularly during festive seasons.

“Previously, a RM2 million allocation was used for improvements, but it was insufficient. The Sarawak Premier approved an additional RM4 million to ensure this issue is resolved,” he said at a press conference held at ICQS Sungai Tujoh.

Among the upgrade works planned are the construction of new lanes, the addition of ten immigration counters, the construction of public toilets, as well as the installation of LED lights and air conditioning units.

Dato Sri Lee emphasised that the project must be completed on schedule, and that the upgrade works should not be carried out during peak hours to avoid congestion.

With the implementation of this project, the government hopes that the entry and exit processes at ICQS Sungai Tujuh will become smoother and more efficient. -UKASnews
