Baker Hughes Strengthens Presence In Sarawak, Focuses On Energy Industry Development

KUCHING: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg recently received a courtesy call from a Baker Hughes delegation led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Lorenzo Simonelli at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.

The visit highlighted Sarawak’s significance as a major hub for Baker Hughes in Malaysia’s energy industry, with the state contributing 70 per cent of the company’s activities in the country.

Lorenzo expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak Premier for supporting the growth of Baker Hughes, a Fortune 150 energy technology company that has had a presence in Malaysia for the past 50 years with its Asia Pacific headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

With its strategic role in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil and gas sectors, Sarawak continues to attract investments from international companies such as Baker Hughes who are committed to expanding their operations in the state.

The visit not only strengthens strategic relationship between the Sarawak Government and Baker Hughes but also opens up new opportunities for the development of energy technology in the state.

Also present at the meeting were Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datu Abang Ahmad Abang Morni, Executive Vice-President of Oilfield Services & Equipment, Amerino Gatti, Senior Regional Vice-President, Tayo Akinokun, and other government officials. -UKASnews
