JPJ Expands MyLesen Programme In Sarawak To Help Reduce Cost Of Driving Licences

GEDONG: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) continues to expand the MyLesen Driving Licence Assistance Programme in the state as part of efforts to ease the burden on the public, particularly rural youth.

JPJ Sarawak Director, Norizan Jili said this programme offers a B2 driving license with a minimum cost of RM250, compared to the normal price of around RM750.

“MyLesen is a government initiative to help the rakyat, especially those at the grassroots level.

"Aside from lower fees, insurance and other costs are also borne by the government," he said when speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the MyLesen Programme held at the Datuk Patinggi Ali Gedong Hall on Wednesday.

The ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Meanwhile, Norizan said since the programme was implemented last year, 13,307 participants in Sarawak have obtained their driving licences through MyLesen, the highest participation rate in Malaysia.

For this edition, a total of 1,135 participants from the Gedong district successfully took part in the programme.

Also present were Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee, Simunjan Assemblyman, Awla Dris, JPJ Malaysia Director-General, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, Samarahan Division Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, and other dignitaries. -UKASnews
