KUCHING: A Cabinet paper will be submitted to enable the implementation of projects in Sarawak to be tailored to the state’s needs which may differ from Peninsular Malaysia.
Deputy Prime Minister, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof stressed the need to obtain policy direction from the Cabinet to ensure the effectiveness of project implementation in Sarawak especially in remote areas.
According to the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, the model proposed for Sarawak also has the potential to be adopted in Sabah.
“For example, school construction projects in remote areas, as raised by the Ministry of Education, face numerous challenges including funding, a shortage of contractors, logistical issues, human resources, and building materials.
"As a result, projects cannot be implemented, are delayed, or have been cancelled,” he said.
He said this after chairing the State Development Action Council Meeting No. 1/2025 (MTPNG) alongside Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas here, on Monday.
Dato Sri Fadillah added that a clear direction from the Cabinet is needed to specifically address issues and ensure smooth implementation of projects in the state.
Also present at the meeting were Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, Sarawak Attorney General, Dato Sri Saferi Ali, and Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Dato Sri Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel. -UKASnews
