SIBU: A total of 3,000 people from various walks of life gathered to break fast en masse at the Sibujaya Ramadan Bazaar Carnival Iftar Ceremony on Saturday.

The programme, which was first organised by the Dudong Service Centre in Sibujaya in collaboration with the Management Committee (JKP) of the Sibujaya Al-Madinatul Husna Mosque and the Sibujaya Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), is to strengthen the multi-racial brotherhood and bring area leaders closer to the community.

The excitement of the programme was felt by the response from the local community, especially Sibu Jaya, who came in droves with their families and friends regardless of their religious beliefs and races.

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing said that the breaking fast ceremony should be made an annual event in the Sibu Jaya area to further strengthen the unity of the local community.

“There is a request for this kind of program to continue every year, and I will try my best to make it happen,” he told the media.

Dato Sri Tiong also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in making the programme a success, including the traders who provided the breaking fast food to the people who attended.

“I would like to thank the JKKK of Sibu Jaya village and the AL-Madinatul Husna Mosque for helping in the organisation and all the traders who helped in preparing the breaking fast food as well as the people who attended to enliven the event,” he said.-UKASnews
