KUCHING: The Graduate Enhancement Training Sarawak-Work Readiness Programme (GETS-WRP) has been launched to equip young graduates with critical industry-relevant skills, enhancing their employability and readiness for the job market.

According to a statement, the program is aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations.

“GETI Sarawak provides structured training, career mentorship, and hands-on experience in key sectors such as digital economy, energy, finance, and government-linked industries.

“The programme aligns with Sarawak’s development agenda by ensuring that local talent is prepared for high-impact roles in the evolving economy,” it said on Thursday.

Chief Executive Officer of SCOPE, Joseph Lim emphasised the program’s alignment with Results-Based Budgeting (RBB) to ensure accountability and measurable impact.

“This initiative is not just about training but about creating a results-driven workforce. Through structured learning, industry exposure, and performance-driven tracking, GETS-WRP will contribute significantly to the state’s talent pipeline,” he stated.

Recent data highlights that while Sarawak’s economy is growing, many graduates face challenges in securing employment due to a mismatch between academic qualifications and industry demands.

The statement noted that GETS-WRP is designed to bridge this gap, offering structured training, industry placements, and career coaching to ensure graduates are job-ready.

“Designed in collaboration with Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), statutory bodies, and private sector partners, the programme offers modules in leadership, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship and communication, tailored to Sarawak’s economic needs.

“Graduates will gain practical experience through internships and project-based learning, ensuring they are job-ready upon completion,” it said.
