KUCHING: Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has proposed changing the term ‘Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Sarawak’, which has been used since 1976, to ‘Sarawak Parliament’. 

According to him, this not only reflects Sarawak's status as one of the signatories of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) but also provides a more appropriate recognition of Sarawak's legislative position within the Federation of Malaysia.

"By using the term 'Sarawak Parliament,' it will more accurately depict Sarawak's unique position compared to other states in Peninsular Malaysia," he said.

He made these remarks while debating the Motion of Appreciation for the Address by the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, during the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Session on Wednesday.

During the same debate, Wilfred also addressed issues in several areas within his constituency that are often affected by flash floods, resulting in significant losses.

In this regard, he urged the relevant authorities to conduct thorough investigations to determine the root cause of the issue. -UKASnews
