Sarawak Conducts Youth Index Study To Assess Wellbeing

KUCHING: The Sarawak Government will implement the Sarawak Youth Index Study 2.0 to assess the development of the quality and well-being of the youth in the state.

Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the study will be carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Youth Development Research Malaysia (IYRES) and involved the participation of youth from 45 districts throughout Sarawak.

“This is the second time Sarawak has collaborated with IYRES to obtain research feedback from youth in 45 districts in Sarawak. The last time such a study was conducted was in 2018,” he said in a press conference after chairing the Sarawak Youth Development Committee Meeting 2025 here on Monday.

He explained that the study covers six main domains, namely Education, Economy, Mental and Physical Wellbeing, Political Socialisation, Nationhood & Democracy, Values ​​and Identity, and Media and Digital Citizenship.

According to him, Sarawak is the only state that has conducted this study twice, the last time in 2018.

Also present were Deputy Ministers for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu and Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat. -UKASnews
