KUCHING: Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) and the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) signed a Collaboration Proposal on Monday, establishing a strategic partnership for the upcoming International Conference on Advanced Applied Sciences and Sustainability (ICAAS 2025).
The partnership designates STIDC as the co-organiser of this significant event, which will take place at Raia Hotel Kuching, from 6 to 7 August 2025.
STIDC General Manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah, who also serves as the co-chairman of ICAAS 2025, stated that the collaboration proposal signing ceremony marks a significant milestone in the shared vision of STIDC and UTS to promote sustainable practices and innovation in applied sciences.
“As one of Sarawak’s leading organisations driving the timber industry, STIDC brings a wealth of expertise and industry leadership to ICAAS 2025.
“While the conference covers a broad range of topics under applied sciences, STIDC’s
involvement aligns with areas such as engineered wood, forest products, and wood science and technology.
These are key areas where we can share our insights and contributions.
“STIDC's collaboration with UTS reflects our dedication to advancing sustainable development in Sarawak,” he said.
He said this during a briefing session with UTS representatives, discussing the upcoming ICAAS 2025 event at the STIDC Headquarters in Petrajaya.
He also emphasised that this partnership underscores STIDC’s commitment to fostering sustainability within the timber industry and beyond.
“ICAAS 2025 provides an excellent platform for industry leaders, researchers, and
policymakers to exchange ideas and explore solutions for global challenges in sustainability,” he added.
For the record, ICAAS 2025 is set to attract researchers, professionals, and policymakers from around the globe to discuss innovative solutions for sustainability challenges.
Participants can expect engaging discussions, networking opportunities, and insights into emerging trends in applied sciences.
