SONG: The Rahmah Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk Perpaduan programme organised simultaneously across Sarawak on Saturday was timely in fostering a sense of unity among local residents.
Katibas Assemblyman, Lidam Assan, expressed his hope that this unity would be preserved for the common good.
He noted that while the population in Song may be small, it comprises various ethnic groups, which necessitates cohesion among the community.
He made these remarks during the launch of the Rahmah Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk Perpaduan programme at the grounds of Masjid Nurul Islam, Kampung Gelam Song, on Saturday.
In his speech, he also pledged to distribute development projects fairly among the different ethnic groups in the area.
Additionally, he urged local community leaders in Song to be more attentive to the problems and issues within their respective areas.
At the same event, he announced a grant of RM5,000 for the Kampung Gelam Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) and KRT Kebiau.
Meanwhile, the Political Secretary to the Minister of Works Malaysia, Ambrose Abong Bugek, also contributed RM5,000 to both KRTs.
The event included the distribution of food baskets to the underprivileged by Baitulmal and the presentation of dates by Saberkas Katibas. -UKASnews
