MIRI: A total of 500 packs of rice along with food aid were distributed to flood victims and low-income groups in Kampung Tudan Phase 3 here on Sunday.
This charity programme was organised by the Thian Chun Tien Buddhist Association, Miri in collaboration with the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Senadin Branch.
Sarawak Minister for Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin who personally presented the aid, stated that the initiative was a personal contribution from him and the SUPP Senadin Branch Service Centre.
“Today, a total of 500 packs of rice and other food aid were delivered to those affected by the flood disaster yesterday.
“This aid is a manifestation of our commitment in helping those in need,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Senadin Assemblyman also revealed that the Sarawak Government's Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has allocated RM150,000 for the construction of a multi-purpose hall and other work to enhance the temple’s infrastructure.
Dato Sri Lee stated that this initiative aimed to provide a wider and more comfortable space for organising various religious and community activities, thus strengthening unity among the diverse people of Sarawak.
“Unity is our strength. Let us continue to help and support each other regardless of racial and religious backgrounds,” he said in emphasising the importance of cooperation and mutual assistance for the well-being of the community.
This charity programme reflects the commitment of the organisers and local leaders in ensuring that immediate assistance reaches those affected and in efforts to foster unity in the community.
The presence of 500 people in this charity event reflects the spirit of unity and concern among the local community regardless of racial and religious backgrounds.
