KUCHING: AirBorneo, the Sarawak-owned airline, has announced the launch of its Logo and Livery Design Competition.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the competition aims to invite public participation in contributing their creative ideas to shape the visual identity of Sarawak’s new pride in the aviation industry.
This follows the enthusiastic response shown by Sarawakians on social media after the announcement of the establishment of AirBorneo, with netizens sharing designs that celebrate Sarawak’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg expressed his excitement over the creativity of the public in shaping the identity of AirBorneo.
“I have seen netizens sharing their creative livery designs on social media, and I must say, all the designs are very beautiful and inspiring.
“To capitalise on this enthusiasm, we will be organising a competition to find the best livery design for AirBorneo,” he said in the statement.
He added that this competition reflects Sarawak’s commitment to encourage community involvement in shaping the airline’s identity while showcasing the state’s unique heritage and progressive vision.
In the same statement, Sarawak Secretary and AirBorneo Chairman, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki emphasised the importance of this initiative, especially in contributing creativity to the airline’s brand identity.
“AirBorneo is more than just an airline, it is a symbol of Sarawak’s aspirations and unity.
“Through this competition, we aim to integrate the creativity and spirit of our people into the brand, and we encourage everyone to take part and be part of history,” he said.
The competition features two categories, namely logo design and aircraft livery design.
Participants are encouraged to incorporate elements reflecting Sarawak’s culture, heritage, biodiversity, eco-friendly values, connectivity, and AirBorneo’s dynamic spirit.
The winning design will receive special recognition and lucrative prizes from the organiser.
