KUCHING:
Grab Malaysia and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to fast-track digital transformation in Sarawak.

In a statement today, Grab announced that the collaboration focuses on the tourism sector as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

This strategic partnership aims to strengthen Sarawak’s position as a premier tourism destination in Southeast Asia while helping local businesses transition towards digitalisation to expand their operations.

Managing Director of Grab Malaysia, Adelene Foo said this initiative aligns with Grab’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable digital economy in Malaysia.

“We are excited to expand our investments in Sarawak and are grateful for the support of the state government and SDEC.

"By leveraging our technology and expertise, we hope to empower local businesses to become more resilient, meet the growing demand for digital services, and create more economic opportunities for the local community,” she said.

Meanwhile, SDEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman described the partnership as a strategic move to position Sarawak as a regional digital hub.

“The digital tourism sector is a key driver of the state’s economic growth. With Grab’s technological expertise and data ecosystem, we can broaden digital access for local businesses and attract more investment to Sarawak,” he said.
