KUCHING: Kampung Pasir Pandak now has a new Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) House after it was officiated by Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, on Saturday.
The new building, built at a cost of RM150,000, will not only function as the village administration centre, but also as the Kampung Pasir Pandak Women's Economic Centre, which will be the hub of community activities.
In his speech, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also the Pantai Damai Assemblyman, stressed that the JKKK House plays an important role as a development coordination centre and the well-being of local residents.
"This JKKK House can also be used to improve the socio-economics of the people, thus facilitating the management of community-related matters," he said, while calling on the JKKK to take advantage of this facility for various activities, including community, education and entrepreneurship programmes.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the Santubong KMKK, Penghulu Suhaili Bujang, Salak Penghulu, Wahid, and the Head of the Pasir Pandak Village Community, Nazeri Edi.
With the building, Kampung Pasir Pandak is expected to further strengthen the role of the JKKK in developing the village in a more organised and effective manner. -UKASnews
