KUCHING: The Sarawak Government remains committed to strengthening the digital ecosystem to ensure that cooperatives in the state are not left behind in the wave of digitalisation, in line with the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2030.

Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, Advisor on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to the Ministry for International Trade, Industry and Investment, highlighted that the state government has made substantial investments in technology infrastructure, digital talent development, and innovation to drive an inclusive and sustainable economy.

“The state government is dedicated to providing incentives and support to cooperatives, enabling them to embrace technology through digital training, innovation financing, and access to digital platforms. This initiative ensures that cooperatives in Sarawak can remain competitive in the evolving digital era,” he said during the officiation of the 'Turun Padang Jom@Coop' Programme at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Thursday.

He further emphasised that artificial intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role in enabling cooperatives to manage data more efficiently, expand their operations through automation, and leverage digital marketing alongside insightful business analytics.

"The 'Jom@Coop' and 'Bicara Ilmu' programmes organised serve as platforms for participants to gain valuable knowledge, generate ideas, and build robust business networks within the cooperative sector," Dato Sri Mohd Naroden added.

He stressed the importance of the exposure to AI provided through the 'Bicara Ilmu' session, encouraging cooperatives to seize this opportunity to understand the vast potential of this technology.

“With the knowledge gained, I am confident that Sarawak cooperatives will rise to new heights and become catalysts for a more sustainable and inclusive community economy,” he elaborated.

Dato Sri Mohd Naroden concluded by reaffirming the state government's commitment to supporting the digitalisation agenda, ensuring that Sarawak cooperatives are well-equipped to face future economic challenges and remain globally competitive. -UKASnews
