KUCHING: The RM400 million Gleneagles Hospital, equipped with 200 beds, will bring world-class healthcare services to patients in Sarawak.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the hospital will provide specialised medical services such as cardiac care, cancer treatment, and advanced surgical procedures.
He added that this includes incorporating the latest medical technology along with a team of experts from various fields.
"By adopting best practices in clinical excellence, patient safety, and innovative treatments, Gleneagles Hospital in Kuching will set a new benchmark in healthcare in the region.
"By supporting such developments, we ensure that our healthcare infrastructure continues to grow in line with the needs of the people, not only for the present but also for future generations,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Gleneagles Hospital at Batu Lintang here, on Monday.
Later in a press conference, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari said its construction would also contribute to Sarawak's broader economic goals by creating job opportunities for doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals in the state.
He further noted that the world-class facilities would provide opportunities to utilise cutting-edge technology, enabling graduates to continue their services as doctors.
"With a hospital like this, students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) who graduate in the medical field can be recruited as trainee doctors.
“After that, they will work in hospitals, not only in government hospitals but many will be deployed to rural areas to increase the number of medical personnel across Sarawak.
"When you have the right workforce, the standards of healthcare will definitely improve,” he explained.
