Late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s Development Legacy Lives On

KUCHING: The development legacy left by the former Governor of Sarawak, the late Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will be continued by the current leadership led by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib was responsible for modernising Sarawak during his lifetime, contributing throughout his 33-year-tenure as the Chief Minister of Sarawak and 10 years as the Head of State. 

"Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib's leadership successfully transformed the economic status and quality of life of the Sarawakians.

"Sarawak is now a progressive region with a high-tech, industry-based economy and equipped with various modern infrastructures,” he said in his maiden speech in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting for the Third Term of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on Monday.

Additionally, he expressed that the passing of Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib was a significant loss to Sarawak.

Therefore, he said, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib's contributions will always be remembered by Sarawakians and the current state leadership. -UKASnews
