SARIBAS: The construction of the new Kampung Bungin Mosque, funded with RM5 million allocation from the Sarawak Government, will begin on February 25.
According to Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, the tender for the mosque construction was reopened for the second time after improvements were made to the initial tender.
"Alhamdulillah, we have now appointed a qualified contractor, Crest Engineering Sdn. Bhd., which will commence construction work on February 25, 2025.
"This project is a crucial step in providing a more comfortable place of worship for the Kampung Bungin community, and I sincerely thank the Sarawak Government for their support," he said.
He made these remarks during a meeting held at the N.35 Saribas Service Centre Meeting Room on Wednesday.
Datuk Mohammad Razi added that the project is expected to be completed within 16 months, with a target completion date of June 25, 2026.
"I hope this project proceeds smoothly without any issues, and I am confident that the appointed contractor will carry out the work responsibly and complete it according to the set timeline," he added.
Additionally, a total of RM400,000 in donations has been collected through community contributions.
These funds will be used to support the construction of the new mosque, which is expected to provide significant benefits to the local community.
Also present at the meeting were Acting Deputy Resident of Betong Division, Hamdan Katang, representatives from the Sarawak Islamic Department (JAIS), the contractor Crest Engineering Sdn. Bhd., and others. – UKASnews
