KUCHING: Sarawak civil servants have been urged to uphold the spirit of SCS One Team by fostering collaboration and innovation across departments and agencies to ensure the successful implementation of the state’s development agenda.
This was emphasised by Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki in his February 2025 address on Monday.
Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar said no department, agency, or officer should work in silos.
Instead, they must operate as a unified team, supporting one another to realise Sarawak’s development goals.
“2025 marks the final year of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP). Therefore, all planned projects and initiatives must be executed smoothly and completed on schedule.
“Infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges are vital in efforts to improve the people’s quality of life,” he said.
The Sarawak Secretary also reminded department heads to be on the ground and personally monitor progress of the 12MP projects instead of relying solely on reports.
As leaders in the public sector, he emphasised that department heads are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of their respective departments and must adopt a proactive approach in addressing arising issues.
“The civil service is not just a job. It is a trust that demands dedication, honesty, and integrity,” he added.
In his address, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar also called on civil servants to engage in self-reflection and improve on any weaknesses to ensure all government policies are effectively implemented.
“Let us work together as one team, collaborate, and innovate for the progress of Sarawak. May all our efforts be blessed,” he said. -UKASnews
