KUCHING: Sarawak’s global image, as showcased by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, has positioned the state as a preferred investment destination for foreign investors.

Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said Sarawak has successfully secured investments totalling RM116 billion across three main sectors, namely the primary, manufacturing and services sectors, over the five-year period from 2020 to September 2024.

"Of this amount, 60 per cent is foreign direct investments (FDI).

“The confidence of investors, especially those from outside Sarawak, to invest here stems from political stability, business-friendly government policies, and the efficiency of the state’s administrative machinery,” he said.

He spoke at the Closing Ceremony of the 16th General Assembly of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) officiated by Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday.

The Deputy President of PBB added that Sarawak has received numerous investment proposals in various sectors, especially renewable energy, green hydrogen, manufacturing, as well as oil and gas.

“It is estimated that no less than RM100 billion in investment proposals across various sectors and activities from within and outside the country are being studied, with discussions between the Sarawak Government and potential investors actively ongoing,” he said.
