Toh Puan Fauziah Graces PPWS Tea Ceremony

KUCHING: The wife of the Governor of Sarawak, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi who is also the Patron of the Federation of Sarawak Women's Associations (PPWS) attended the Tea Ceremony organised by the association, on Sunday evening.

The event, held in conjunction with PPWS Day, is a symbol of the government's appreciation for the important role of women as the main driver of the progress of Sarawak in addition to the development of family institutions and the strengthening of a caring society.

PPWS State Chairperson, Aishah Edris said that the International Women's Day 2024 celebration this year is themed 'Wanita Dijulang Negara Gemilang' which has been launched by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to show the importance of creating an inclusive culture and gender equality at all levels as an effort to dignify women in this country.

"The role and contribution of women in various aspects is also the main pillar for the social development of society.

"The role of women at this time is as important as that of men and to achieve gender equality and further maximise the potential and role of women.

"PPWS will continue to implement various initiatives covering aspects of economic development, education and training, women's safety and wellbeing as well as leadership.

"PPWS members must be independent and reduce their dependence on others for the purpose of their survival," she said while delivering her speech at the tea ceremony at Dewan Seri Mahligai, here. 

Also present were Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak Women Chairperson, Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, PPWS State Deputy Chairperson, Dato Norhyati Ismail, PPWS Advisor, Dato Rugayah Abdul Majid, and Lifetime Members Datuk Seri Hafsah Harun, Dato Hajijah Uteh, and Datin Amar Fatimah Jamil. -UKASnews
