KUCHING: Approximately 200 guests attended the Aidilfitri Gathering of the Scout Association of Malaysia Sarawak Branch at the Hikmah Exchange Centre here on Saturday evening.
The event was graced by the presence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The Sarawak Scout Council Deputy President, Dato Safri Abdillah, said that the event brought together the scouting family in a harmonious atmosphere.
"This is a manifestation of our camaraderie and togetherness regardless of race and religion.
"We must maintain this so that we can pass on to our future generations a state that is peaceful and prosperous," he said during his speech at the event.
He also expressed high hopes for scout leaders at every level to continue fostering a love for the state and country.
"We don't need to hold high positions to contribute to building a fortress to maintain harmony among the races in Sarawak," he added.
Also present were the National Scout Chief Commissioner Major General Prof. Dato' Dr Mohd. Zin Bidin, National Scout Deputy Chief Commissioner Datuk Zamani Tambichek, Sarawak Scout Council Vice President Jumaat Ibrahim, Sarawak Scout Commissioner Captain Zainuddin Tan Sri Hamdan, Sarawak Scout Council EXCO Chairman Peter Chai Mui Seng, Sarawak Scout Council Members, Department Heads, and Community Leaders.-UKASnews
