19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly: Five Bills To Be Tabled

KUCHING: The First Meeting of the Third Session of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, scheduled from May 6 to 15, will witness the presentation of five Bills.

Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, said the question and answer session would be held for four days starting from May 7 to 10.

He mentioned that the presentation of the Bills by the responsible Ministers would take place on May 7 after the question and answer session.

"The Bills to be presented are five Bills, namely: first, the Supplementary Supply (2023) 2024 Bill; Supplementary Supply (2024) 2024 Bill; Sarawak Ports Authority Bill 2024; Public Health Protection (Amendment) 2024 Bill; and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (Amendment) 2024 Bill.

"Only the Sarawak Ports Authority Bill is a new Bill, while the Public Health Protection Bill and Sarawak Forestry Corporation Bill are amendments," he said.

He said this during a media session at the Headquarters of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) here on Saturday.

Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia added that the Sarawak Ports Authority Bill 2024 would be presented by Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Before that, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg chaired the Pre-Session Meeting of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly in the same building.

Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia informed that the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, would officiate at the Opening Ceremony of the Third Session of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly on Monday.

He said that a total of 352 questions, comprising 267 oral answers and 85 written answers, were received from 43 Members of the State Legislative Assembly.

This session of the Assembly will witness a Motion of Appreciation for the former Governor of Sarawak to be discussed on May 8.

Also present were Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Datuk Idris Buang and Secretary of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Nur Azhar Bujang. -UKASnews
