Sarawak Secretary Visits Flood Victims At Bintulu Civic Centre PPS

BINTULU: Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki visited the Bintulu Civic Centre Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) on Thursday to assess the condition of flood victims housed there.

The visit followed improvements in the flood situation, with the majority of victims having returned to their homes after floodwaters receded.

During the visit, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar also witnessed the presentation of a contribution by Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd amounting to RM25,000 to the Bintulu Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) and RM10,000 to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus.

Additionally, essential aid was distributed to PPS occupants to help alleviate their burden.

Meanwhile, the Sarawak Secretary expressed hope that the remaining evacuees at the PPS would remain resilient in facing this ordeal while prioritising their well-being and that of their families.

He said this disaster not only caused the destruction of houses and property but also affected basic school supplies.

Also present during the visit were Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration), Datu Buckland Bangik, Bintulu Division Resident, Datu Nyurak Keti, Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication, Datu Jafri Lias, Director of the Irrigation and Drainage Department Sarawak, Datu Ir.
