KUCHING: The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak is investigating the source of recurring floating wood debris at Sungai Krangan, Balai Ringin, while taking immediate action to minimise its impact and prevent further environmental damage.
According to a statement, NREB said it is working closely with relevant agencies to clear the debris and restore the affected area, ensuring minimal disruption to local communities.
“Enforcement officers have been deployed to assess the situation and determine necessary actions, while cleanup efforts are being coordinated with public agencies and private sector partners for a swift resolution.
“NREB remains committed to protecting local livelihoods, ensuring water security, and holding polluters accountable while urging plantation operators to comply with environmental regulations to prevent further waterway pollution,” it said.
In light of this, NREB seeks the full cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure sustainable environmental management and preventing future incidents. -UKASnews
