BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) recorded a post-tax profit of RM125.06 million after generating a revenue of RM821.64 million for the year 2023.

Effective management and operations led to an increase in revenue to RM821.64 million in 2023 compared to RM819.79 million in 2022, with cargo handling reaching 48.77 million metric tons and the total vessel calls in 2023 amounting to 7,708 compared to 7,505 in 2022, exceeding the target by 102 per cent.

Sarawak State Secretary and Chairman of BPHB, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki expressed pride in announcing the group’s Integrated Annual Report for 2023.

"Despite facing various challenges, BPHB has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and commitment to excellence," he said in a statement after the 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BPHB on Monday.

Moving forward, BPHB Group Chief Executive Officer, Ruslan Abdul Ghani said that Bintulu Port is ready to support the state’s economic development as the main deep-sea port in Sarawak.

BPHB is prepared with a three-pronged growth strategy to enhance core port business, explore off-port business, and transition to low carbon and clean energy space, he added.

"We have also introduced a new corporate business culture focusing on customer centricity, solution focus, improvement, outcome-oriented, and value-driven," he said.

Furthermore, Bintulu Port not only continues to play its vital role as the main export gateway for the oil and gas industry but is also poised to become a hub for biofuel, petrochemical, and green energy resources in line with the Sarawak government's clean energy agenda.

Therefore, he added, BPHB remains committed in meeting customer needs and support the government's aspirations to position Sarawak as a renewable energy hub in the Asian region. -UKASnews
