JEPAK: 1,500 solar-powered lights will be installed across the Jepak constituency to improve lighting in strategic areas, including main roads, pedestrian walkways, and villages.
Jepak Assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, chaired a meeting in collaboration with the Public Works Department (JKR) Bintulu and the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) on Tuesday.
According to Iskandar, the project reflects the commitment of the Sarawak government and local authorities to improve the well-being of residents, both in urban and rural areas.
“This initiative not only contributes to residents’ safety and comfort but also supports Sarawak’s green development agenda.
“The close cooperation between JKR, BDA, and the Jepak Service Centre will ensure this project is implemented efficiently and meets its objectives,” he said during the meeting.
Priority will be given to unlit areas such as village roads, public gathering spots, and recreational sites to enhance residents’ safety.
The project is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with the initial phase focusing on critical areas.
This initiative is anticipated to significantly benefit Jepak residents, showcasing the Sarawak government’s dedication to sustainable development and community welfare. -UKASnews
