SIMUNJAN: Dewan Mesra Simunjan here will be expanded after a request from Simunjan assemblyman, Awla Dris has been approved.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said, the expansion of this hall is to provide the facilities needed by the local community.
"We are not building a new one but expanding this hall so that it has the facilities needed by the local community for events or festivals where it is convenient for them to use it," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after officiating the Simunjan District Ramah Tamah Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 celebration here, on Wednesday.
The Premier of Sarawak added that the expansion of the hall also involved the construction of exhibitions outside the hall.
Commenting on the eruption of Mount Ruang in Sulawesi, the Gedong assemblyman said that several flights have been cancelled by airlines, especially involving routes to Northern Sarawak.
However, he said, the flights to Southern Sarawak were not affected as he himself did not face any problems when flying to and from Kuala Lumpur today. -UKASnews
