Salary Increase Of Sarawak Civil Servants Will Be Reviewed

SIMUNJAN: The Sarawak government will study the review to increase the salaries of Sarawak civil servants which will be improved to provide more benefits to them. 

Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said, the state government will conduct a study within the next month and a half to improve this matter so that the Sarawak civil servants can enjoy more benefits.

"Within a month and a half, we will conduct a study because there are financial implications as the Sarawak civil servants are our responsibility.

"God willing, we will be able to bear the salary increase of our civil servants which I will announce in a month and a half," he explained.

He said this when met by reporters after officiating the Simunjan District Ramah Tamah Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 celebration here, on Wednesday.

Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari also hinted that the Sarawak government will add a better package for civil servants in line with their salary increase.

"For Sarawak, we will study the details and I have given a signal, maybe we can improve a little from what the Federal government has offered.

"And in this later, we will have a package that I will announce after we do the study.

"One day, I will make an official announcement of what we will do at the Sarawak level," he explained.

Earlier today, Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a salary increase of more than 13 per cent for civil servants starting this December.

Also present were Sarawak Utility and Telecommunication Minister, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Simunjan assemblyman, Awla Dris, and other invited guests. -UKASnews
