MARUDI: Preparations are in full swing for the official opening of the Marudi Bridge in Baram, which will be officiated today by the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
A rehearsal for the prestigious event took place on Thursday, with the presence of Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and other notable dignitaries, including Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Dr. Penguang Manggil, and Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Dato Majang Renggi.
Among those present at the rehearsal were Miri Division Deputy Resident, Bujang Rahman Seli, and Marudi District Officer, Rose Edward Tarang.
The Marudi Bridge, a pivotal infrastructure development for the region, is expected to draw approximately 1,500 attendees to the ceremony.
The turnout will include local residents from the Marudi and Mulu constituencies, highlighting the bridge's significance in improving connectivity and fostering stronger ties between communities in Baram.
Following the official opening ceremony, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari is scheduled to perform Friday prayers at Masjid As-Salam in Marudi.
The Marudi Bridge is poised to become a vital catalyst for economic growth and enhanced connectivity in the area.
