KUCHING: A total of 60 students from three schools — Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gersik, SK Pulo Ulu, and SK Matu Baru — were selected to participate in the Back To School ('Jom Kembali Ke Sekolah') programme, held at SK Gersik, Kampung Gersik, Kuching.
This initiative, organised by the Sarawak Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) in collaboration with Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, marks the beginning of the 2025 school year.
The programme is part of LCDA's annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at easing the financial burden on parents in providing essential school supplies for their children. Each student received a RM200 voucher from LCDA to purchase school necessities such as uniforms, socks, shoes, and stationery. Meanwhile, Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak contributed school bags and additional stationery.
Looking forward, LCDA and Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak plan to expand this initiative by partnering with various government and private agencies to further enhance the quality of education for local communities.
This effort will also strengthen relationships between government agencies involved in the Darul Hana Project and the residents of Kampung Seberang Hilir.
This programme reflects the ongoing commitment to supporting the educational needs of the local community and fostering stronger ties for future growth.
The handing over of contributions was officiated by LCDA Acting General Manager, Kusyairi Bostani.
Also present were Deputy Director of the State Education Department, Hazali Madihi, Head of Distribution for Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, Mohamat Shukri Samor, Senior Manager of LCDA Corporate Affairs Division, Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly, as well as LCDA officers, teachers, parents, and students. -UKASnews
