Helicopter Deployed To Provide Aid To Long Lamai Flood Victims

BARAM: The Miri Fire and Rescue Department in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department deployed a helicopter on Tuesday to deliver aid to villages in Long Lamai affected by severe flooding following rainfall which occured on Sunday.

However, due to unfavourable weather conditions, the helicopter carrying the team and essential supplies for the victims was unable to land in Long Lamai.

The team had to return to Miri, with the mission set to resume today for both villages.

The affected villages were Kampung Long Lamai, home to 233 residents, and Kampung Long Balong, which comprises 364 residents.

Also present during the mission were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, Deputy Resident of Miri Division, Juan Ubit, Telang Usan District Officer, Ezra Uda, and other officials. -UKASnews
