KUCHING: A historic milestone was achieved as MASWings came under Sarawak's ownership after discussions on the asset price were agreed upon by both parties involving the Sarawak Government and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).

This significant news was announced by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg to reporters after officiating the ‘Majlis Amanat Perdana Premier Sarawak 2025’ at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Monday.

According to him, the official signing ceremony of the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) is expected to take place in less than a month in Kuching.

"What I can share today is that the MASWings affair has been finalised.

"This means that we have taken over MASWings, and soon there will be an official ceremony to sign this agreement which I expect to occur within a month, before the fasting month,” he explained.

However, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari has yet to reveal the new name of the airline, promising to announce it after the signing ceremony.

Previously, the Sarawak Government's intention of acquiring the airline last December faced delays due to differences in the valuation of its assets. -UKASnews
