Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit Receives Visit From Johor State Secretary Office

KUCHING: The Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) of the Sarawak Premier’s Department recently received a visit from the Corporate and Quality Unit of the Johor State Secretary’s Office in conjunction with the delegation’s innovation management benchmarking visit. 

The delegation is led by the Head of Corporate and Quality Unit, Muhammad Ammar Akmal Senan and also involved 22 staff of the unit.

According to a statement, the main objective of this benchmarking visit is to better understand the structure of innovation management in the Sarawak Civil Service and the best practices for innovation management that have been implemented by STIU.

During the visit, STIU Director, Superi Awang Said gave a briefing to the delegation on the implementation and achievement of transformation and innovation initiatives in Sarawak.

According to him, STIU not only acts as an organiser or coordinator for the transformation and innovation initiatives implemented but is also directly involved in the initiatives where the STIU office has obtained 5S and EKSA certification.

STIU has also obtained MS ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2023 with 57 divisional administration entities which are the Resident Offices and District Offices throughout Sarawak.

The achievements of STIU and those divisional administration entities have also been recognised where certificates have been awarded by SIRIM during the ‘Majlis SIRIM Industri 2023’ held on December 13, last year.

In addition, the Malaysian Book of Records recognised STIU's achievements by issuing a certificate for the ‘First Government Agency To Receive ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (Sarawak Divisional Administration)’ category. 

Meanwhile, STIU also shared on other initiatives implemented in the Sarawak Civil Service such as High Performance Team (HPT), Key Focus Activities 2.0 (KFA 2.0), MyPortfolio, SCS Scorecard, Innovative & Creative Circle (ICC), Sarawak Civil Service Quality Award (AKPANS), My Creative Idea (MCi) and the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA) with a series of conventions and recognitions carried out year-round.

The Director of STIU also emphasised the importance of the sustainability of innovative ideas that have been carried out to ensure that every initiative and idea can be maintained.

Thus, STIU is in the process of creating a Sustainability Award to ensure that innovative ideas produced by Sarawak civil servants can be put into practice and replicated in improving the productivity and delivery of the Sarawak Civil Service. -UKASnews
