KUCHING: The P. Ramlee Fan Club (KPPR) continues to play an important role in holding art and cultural events based on the works of the country's legendary artist, Tan Sri P. Ramlee.
The club is often invited to various important events including academic programmes and special performances to introduce and appreciate the artistic legacy of this great artist.
Advisor of the Sarawak P. Ramlee Fan Club, Datu Dr. Adi Badiozaman Tuah hoped that this tradition can be continued with the support of leaders such as the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
“The club has implemented similar programmes with previous leaders such as former Governors of Sarawak, Tun Salahuddin and Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, in an effort to elevate the name of P. Ramlee as an art icon that inspires the younger generation.
“P. Ramlee not only produced great works of art, but also works that contain high intellectual values that are still appreciated today,” he said when met by the media after paying a courtesy call on Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi here, on Monday.
Among others, the visit aimed to plan and organise a special performance in conjunction with Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi’s birthday celebration.
The performance will feature a combination of singing, dancing, and acting with the support of artistic figures such as Adlin Aman Ramli and Dato’ Hairul Anwar Saleh from the Tanah Air Film.
Tanah Air Film, which is currently working on the ‘Legasi P. Ramlee’ project, is also planning to produce two biography films on Tan Sri P. Ramlee in the next two years.
This project also includes the production of a podcast which aims to revive the great artist’s ever-fresh works of art.
With this ongoing effort, the club hopes that the younger generation can use art as a medium for shaping the identity and character of the nation. -UKASnews
