KAPIT: Elvis Didit has begun duties as the new Kapit Division Resident to replace Galong Luang who is currently serving as the Miri Division Resident.
The handover ceremony took place at the Kapit Division Resident's Office on Thursday.
Elvis, 57, originally from Sri Aman, previously served as the Principal Assistant Secretary of the Corporate Management Division at the Sarawak Ministry of Transport.
He began his career in the Sarawak Civil Service in 1994 as an Assistant Administrative Officer at the Sri Aman Land and Survey Department.
With more than 34 years in the civil service, he has gained extensive experience in various departments and agencies, including as an Administrative Officer at the Sibu District Office, Deputy Resident in Limbang, and the Kapit District Officer.
Previously, he had also served as Deputy Resident of Sri Aman Division.
In his brief message as the new Kapit Division Resident, Elvis stressed his commitment to ensure the successful implementation of projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
He also stressed the importance of teamwork, in line with the recommendation of Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki who called on Sarawak and Federal civil servants to work harmoniously as a team.
In addition, Elvis expressed his intention to involve all stakeholders including community leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in an effort to understand the priorities of the rakyat in the Kapit Division.
“I attach great importance to the views and opinions of the people because as civil servants, we serve the people.
"The people’s voices are our priority,” he said.
Also present were Kapit Division Deputy Resident, Robert Liman Deli, Bukit Mabong District Officer, Jabang Juntan, Belaga District Officer, Bidah Lujah, as well as senior officers of the Kapit Division Resident’s Office. -UKASnews
