SIBU JAYA: The five-day Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) with the Sibu community programme held at the Azman Hashim Community Sports Centre received encouraging response.

Its Minister, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said the programme, themed 'Sibu Carnival Celebrating 2025 Together', reflects the unity and harmony of the multi-racial community.

"If we do not work together, appreciate and respect various races and religions, we will not be able to achieve unity and harmony in society.

"In fact, today this programme will not be implemented either," he said when officiating the programme in Sibu Jaya on Tuesday.

The Dudong Assemblyman added that MOTAC through Tourism Malaysia and its agencies will organise various cultural tourism programmes and activities for 2025.

He said MOTAC will launch the 'Midnight Sales' programme with shopping malls, where this programme will be implemented by shopping malls from each state.

Food promotions as special packages will also be implemented to introduce and promote local Malaysian dishes at shopping malls and other outlets.

Meanwhile, Dato Sri Tiong said that MOTAC will continue to promote Sarawak through collaboration with the Sarawak Tourism Board to help produce more tourism products throughout Sarawak that will attract tourists from ASEAN and Asian countries, West Asia, Europe, and other countries around the world.

"The launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 will be launched soon to strengthen Malaysia's position as the world's leading tourism destination.

"Thus, we welcome all parties to join us in making this campaign a success," he said.

Also present were Bawang Assan Assemblyman, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, and MOTAC Secretary-General, Datuk Wira Roslan Abdul Rahman. -UKASnews
