KUCHING: A total of 100 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Lintang and Sekolah Kebangsaan Siol Kanan in Kuching, Sarawak have received monthly food aid under DRB-HICOM Berhad’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the ‘DRB-HICOM Charity Right Feed-To-Educate Programme’.
The initiative aims to provide nutritional support and promote better education and family well-being by delivering monthly food boxes worth approximately RM200, containing essential groceries and household items to each family for one year.
According to DRB-HICOM’s Chief Communication Officer, Cairil Irwan Amir in a press statement on Wednesday, the programme requires parents or guardians to attend regular meetings with the schools, fostering closer collaboration between families and educators.
“The DRB-HICOM Charity Right Feed-To-Educate Programme not only aims to provide nutritional support, but will also closely monitor each students’ attendance, academic progress, and health status.
"By involving parents and guardians, our goal is to encourage these students to gain better education by further improving their attendance at school,” he said during the launching of the programme held at SK Siol Kanan.
The programme includes collaboration with DRB-HICOM subsidiaries, with Bank Muamalat conducting motivational talks on financial literacy and scam awareness, and PROTON showcasing recent technological advancements to inspire students.
In partnership with Charity Right, an NGO under Mercy Mission Malaysia, the programme extends beyond food aid by offering participating parents access to training sessions and motivational talks for personal and professional development.
This holistic approach aims to foster a cohesive environment that prioritises education and self-improvement.
Working alongside its subsidiaries, DRB-HICOM remains dedicated in making a meaningful social impact through initiatives that align with the national education agenda and foster the holistic growth of Malaysia’s future generations.
