MIRI: The Miri Sentral Bus Terminal, located along the Miri Bypass, is set to officially begin operations on January 18 2025, replacing the Pujut Bus Terminal, which will stop operations on January 17, 2025.
This project is a collaboration between the Sarawak Government, the Sarawak Ministry of Transport, and the Miri City Council.
Miri Mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang described the opening of the new terminal as a significant milestone in enhancing public transportation infrastructure in Miri.
“The terminal will operate daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and is equipped with modern facilities to meet users’ needs,” he said in a media statement on Monday.
The facilities include 12 ticket counters, 12 retail shops, 14 bus platforms, two cafes, a spacious and comfortable waiting area, and user-friendly public restrooms, particularly for people with disabilities.
Adam Yii added that the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal will serve as the main hub for long-distance buses, local buses, taxis, and e-hailing services, providing a better transportation experience for both locals and tourists.
“This terminal is expected to play an important role in strengthening transportation networks, supporting economic development, and improving community mobility,” he said. – UKASnews
