KUCHING: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sarawak Contingent will mobilise 700 officers and personnel to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow during the Road Safety Campaign ahead of the Christmas celebration this year.
The campaign will run for five days from December 23 to 27.
Sarawak Police Commissioner, Dato Mancha Ata said the campaign focuses on high-risk accident areas to ensure the safety of road users throughout the festive season.
“Our personnel will be stationed at strategic locations to minimise accident risks and control traffic flow in busy areas,” he said.
He told reporters after the official launch of the campaign at Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters here, on Wednesday.
The campaign also includes the ‘Hari Bertemu Pelanggan’ initiative where special counters for summons review and payment will be set up at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters Open Hall starting today until December 23.
A 50 per cent discount on selected summonses is being offered to encourage the public to settle any outstanding fines.
Dato Mancha described this initiative as an excellent opportunity for people to clear their overdue summonses.
He expressed his hope that this step would facilitate the public before they embark on their journeys home for the Christmas festivities.
“We will not tolerate any road users who break the law. Always prioritise the safety of yourself and your family,” Dato Mancha emphasised.
Additionally, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will provide a mobile counter, JPJ Mobile, at the same location.
Among the services offered are the renewal of driving licences, motor vehicle licences, and summons blacklist checks.
The campaign aims to reduce accident rates and ensure a smooth and safe travel experience for the public during the festive season. -UKASnews
