KUCHING: Indonesian music legend, Hetty Koes Endang, is set to enliven the Sarawak Level New Year Celebration 2025, or Countdown 2025, scheduled to take place at the Kuching Waterfront on December 31.

Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP), Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the event, starting as early as 8 a.m., promises an array of exciting activities. 

Among the highlights will be performances by renowned local artists such as Akim & The Majistret, and Zee Avi, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

“I’ve been informed that Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi will grace the event. 

“Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, along with his family, will also join us in ringing out 2024,” he said during a press conference for the Countdown 2025 celebration at Baitulmakmur II, on Tuesday.

Dato Sri Abdul Karim also advised residents from nearby areas including Samarahan, Kuching, Bau, and Lundu to carpool to reduce traffic congestion and make parking more convenient.

“Don’t drive alone or with just two people in one car. If you’re coming with friends or family, make use of carpooling. Otherwise, you may find it difficult to secure parking,” he suggested.

Also present at the press conference were MTCP Permanent Secretary, Datu Sherrina Hussaini, MTCP Deputy Permanent Secretary, Desmond Douglas Jerukan, CEO of the Sarawak Arts Council, Dayang Mariana, and CEO of the Sarawak Tourism Board, Sharzede Datu Salleh Askor. -UKASnews
