SIBU: The Sarawak Orphans Welfare Board (PERYATIM) remains steadfast in upholding the welfare of orphans, with a strong emphasis on nurturing their character and values.
Board Member of PERYATIM Sarawak and Chairman of Juma'ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex (KKJTHB), Dato Mohamad Yusnar Matalie, stated that the organisation provides opportunities for orphans to develop academically and explore their talents through activities such as music, dance and culinary clubs.
“These activities help the children develop independence and prevent over-reliance on their guardians.
"No matter the challenges faced, we hope the children at the PERYATIM Complex will grow into successful individuals and contribute to society in the future,” he said during the KKJTHB Arts and Appreciation Ceremony held on Saturday.
Additionally, Dato Mohamad Yusnar highlighted that the complex offers tuition classes to ensure children master the 3Rs (Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic) and provides additional classes for those needing academic support.
The ceremony also recognised 12 recipients of the KKJTHB 2025 Long Service Award for staff who have served over five years at PERYATIM.
Four individuals were honoured as KKJTHB 2024 Artistic Talents in the Dance and Music categories (Male/Female).
Dato Mohamad Yusnar further noted that these achievements are the result of close cooperation among management, the community and various stakeholders committed to the welfare and education of the children at the PERYATIM Complex. -UKASnews
