Sarawak Government Will Ensure SUKMA XXI 2024 Is Successful

MIRI: Sarawak as the host of the XXI Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 will ensure the successful organisation of the biennial games.


Sarawak Transport Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said, the state government has a great responsibility and trust to provide a conducive environment for athletes and teams.


"We must provide lasting support and ensure that every participant has a meaningful experience.


"I am confident that with support from all parties we will be able to make SUKMA XXl 2024 a successful event and leave a positive impact on the development of national sports," he explained.


He said this through the text of the speech read by Sarawak's Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat at the Opening Ceremony of the Baton Relay of the SUKMA XXI 2024 at Miri City Fan here on Sunday.


The Senadin assemblyman added that Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg hopes that this year's edition of SUKMA will be the best ever organised.


According to him, the Sarawak government also hopes that the Sarawak contingent will be the 'runaway champion' at this Games.


"The biggest hope is to see our athletes achieve excellent performance, representing their respective states with full enthusiasm and dedication," he said.


In the meantime, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat also launched the Sarawak X-Tive exhibition and afterwards visited the surrounding stalls with his entourage.


It is understood that a total of six sports will be contested in the Miri Division, namely sailing, rugby, fencing, karate, softball and pencak silat.


Also present were Sarawak State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, Miri Divisional Resident Jamalie Busri, Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhool and Community Welfare Development Deputy Permanent Secretary Nur Alina Abdullah @ Colliner Gohe, MYSED's Chief Assistant Secretary for Corporate Governance, Abdul Rani Abdullah and Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Sports Corporation, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Reduan. - UKASnews
