KUCHING: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has become a vital tool in addressing global skills mismatches.

Chairman of Sarawak Skill, Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain, stressed the importance of evaluating the current state of TVET and shaping its future to enhance national competitiveness.

“With fresh opportunities for collaboration across the BIMP-EAGA region, it is timely for us to raise the bar in providing industry-relevant education.

“The way forward is to increase cross-border collaborations involving student and staff exchange programmes, new programme development, and strategic partnerships among governments, TVET institutions, and industries,” he said during the 4th BIMP-EAGA TVET Conference 2024 here on Thursday.

The conference highlighted key areas, including skills development for the future of work, transforming the TVET ecosystem, and partnerships between industries and institutions.

Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz said these discussions underscored the urgent need to view pertinent issues through fresh perspectives.

“TVET has come to the fore in improving livelihoods globally,” he added, pointing to its role in fostering innovation and talent development across the region. -UKASnews
