SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Baton Relay Continues In Miri

MIRI: The Baton Relay of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXI Sarawak 2024 continued in the Miri Division on Sunday.


Sarawak Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat officiated the flag-off of the baton relay at the Miri City Fan at 7.35 a.m.


Also present were Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation) who is also the Chief Executive Officer of SUKMA and Para SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024, Datu Hii Chang Kee, Mayor of Miri City Council, Adam Yii Siew Sang, Miri Division Resident, Jamalie Busri and Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Sports Corporation, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Reduan.


A total of 500 participants took part in the 3.5-kilometre (km) baton relay which passed through Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Bendahara, Jalan Nahkoda Gampar, Jalan South Yu Seng and Jalan North Yu Seng.


The baton relay was led by 10 sporting icons of Miri Division who are active in athletics, football, sailing, and bodybuilding.


Earlier, the programme began at 7 a.m. with attendees participating in aerobics and Zumba events.


The SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Baton Relay started in the Limbang Division at the Lawas Public Park on Saturday involving a total of 100 participants.


Next, the baton relay will continue to Bintulu Division on May 11 and Mukah Division on May 12. -UKASnews
