SEBUYAU: The Sarawak government, with the approval of the Federal government, will construct a new school in Sebuyau.

This was announced by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg during his speech at the Sebuyau District Aidilfitri Gathering 2024 on Saturday.

According to Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari, he has had initial discussions with Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, regarding the estimated funds needed to build the school.

"The Prime Minister, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, recently agreed to this matter, so I am confident in using the funds we have to build a school in Sebuyau.

"I have discussed with the Secretary of State for Sarawak; he informed me that the estimated budget is between RM50 to RM60 million," he explained.

In this regard, he directed Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar to convey this matter to the Director of the Sarawak State Education Department to implement the project.

For the record, Dato Seri Anwar recently visited Sarawak at the end of Ramadan this year, thereby granting Sarawak permission to utilise its own funds first to upgrade and construct a new school, which will later be reimbursed by the Federal government.-UKASnews
