HO CHI MINH: FPT, a global technology corporation, has partnered with Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) to push Sarawak’s digital economy forward.
The two organisations recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aiming to make Sarawak a leading digital powerhouse in the region.
This partnership highlights FPT’s commitment to innovation in Southeast Asia and showcases its ability to deliver advanced digital solutions in the public sector.
SDEC Chief Executive Officer, Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, emphasised that this partnership reflects Sarawak’s commitment to growing its digital economy.
“Particularly in leveraging technology to fuel growth, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation, we hope that this partnership will empower both parties to deliver modern day solutions that not only meet but exceed the evolving needs of our customers and stakeholders,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the collaboration would help both parties deliver modern solutions that exceed the expectations of their customers and stakeholders.
According to FPT Executive Vice President, Pham Minh Tuan, as SDEC’s strategic technology partner, FPT will work on developing and commercialising new technologies, focusing on key areas like e-government, smart cities, healthcare, energy, and cybersecurity.
"With nearly two decades in Malaysia, we’ve earned trust as a reliable IT partner. By combining Sarawak’s role in Malaysia’s digital transformation with FPT’s expertise, we aim to create AI-driven solutions that tackle challenges across Malaysia and Southeast Asia,” he said.
FPT, which first entered Malaysia in 2006, now has over 1,300 professionals serving industries such as banking, healthcare, energy, and the public sector.
As part of its growth strategy, FPT plans to expand its Malaysian workforce by 300-500 experts in the next five years and set up a Global Delivery Center in Sarawak to meet the growing demand from clients in East Malaysia and Brunei.
These efforts will improve Sarawak’s digital infrastructure and help make it more competitive in the digital world.
FPT will also contribute to building Sarawak’s digital ecosystem by nurturing local talent and supporting startups.
Collaborating with universities and technical colleges, FPT plans to create specialised training programmes to equip professionals with skills in software development, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.
This initiative is expected to strengthen Sarawak’s workforce and boost its digital economy. -UKASnews
