Ngemah Assemblyman Launches Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2024 In Kanowit

KANOWIT: Ngemah Assemblyman, Tuan Anyi Jana, has officially launched the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2024 event for the Sarawak district of Kanowit at Rh. Taboh, Nanga Ngungun. In his speech welcoming the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2024 convoy to Rh. Taboh, he highlighted the establishment of the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) in Nanga Ngungun, which includes 27 longhouses such as Jagau, Tada, and Sekuau. This initiative, started during the 1970s emergency period, demonstrates the government's commitment to ensuring the safety of local residents and signifies independence. The scheme aims to enhance human civilisation by organising the population and continually improving the area with safer roads to facilitate social and economic activities. “The excitement among the people was evident as they awaited the KMJG convoy, which brightened up the route to the planned destination. "Previously, we could only watch from afar, and I hope future years will see even more flags decorating homes in Kanowit as a symbol of national pride,” he said. “This day is historic for our longhouse, being chosen as a stop for the KMJG 2024, which also involves students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Ngungun,” he added. Earlier, Chief Assistant Director of the Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) Sarawak, Ajes Tuah, spoke about the aim of the KMJG event, which is to boost patriotism and love for the country among Malaysians of diverse backgrounds and religions. He also mentioned that the event aims to restore public confidence and involvement in government programs and activities, supporting the government's policies within the Malaysia MADANI framework. “I hope the local community will use this celebration to reflect on the meaning of independence. “Although the KMJG convoy event in Kanowit is modest, it carries important messages for the local residents. "The activities organised at the celebration, including social media updates, mobile announcements, leaflet distributions, casual chats, briefings, and speeches, can significantly impact the community,” Ajes said.
