Tonight, the spirit of Deepavali illuminated the very heart of Sarawak’s unity.
YBhg. Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau, Director of UNIFOR, accompanied by Heads of Religions, interfaith representatives, and UNIFOR staff, joined the vibrant Diwali celebration graced by the presence of Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar and Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi.
Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Second Minister For Finance and New Economy, Minister For Infrastructure and Port Development, cum Minister in-charge of UNIFOR along with other esteemed dignitaries.
Thoughtfully organised by the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Association Kuching under the leadership of its President, YBhg. Dato Shankar Ram Pohumall Asnani, the celebration brought together Sarawakians of all faiths and backgrounds, united under one radiant light.
“Sarawak Shines – Diwali the Sarawak Way” was more than a theme, it was a living expression of our shared values: joy, harmony, and mutual respect. The evening unfolded with mesmerising performances that paid tribute to ancient Hindu epics, stories of courage, compassion, and the eternal triumph of light over darkness.
From the vibrant costumes to the graceful movements and spiritual artistry, every moment reminded us that unity is our greatest strength, and diversity our richest blessing.
UNIFOR was honoured to support this meaningful occasion by contributing towards the dinner in line with its mission of fostering inclusivity, UNIFOR continues to extend similar support to the Christian, Taoist, Baha’i, Buddhist, and Sikh across Sarawak.
May the lights of Diwali continue to shine upon us all, guiding Sarawak forward in peace, unity, and shared prosperity.
